SuperStar @ Venice Film Festival 2011 - Award Ceremony
ned 11. septembar 2011.
Saturday saw an hour of triumph of Russian director Alexander Sokurov, whose film “Faust” won the Golden Lion award at the 68th Venice Film Festival. Sokurov conceived his Faust back in 1981, but finalized it shortly before this year’s opening of what is now the oldest film festival in the world.
Much to the surprise of many, Sokurov’s “Faust” finally grabbed the top award at the Venice Festival as the punted favorites went home empty handed.
Sokurov’s film was especially praised by US filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, head of the Venice jury, who presented the award in a ceremony on Saturday night.
“There are films that change you forever after you see them, and this is one of them,” Aronofsky said, adding that the decision had been unanimous.
